NL - Europees Parlementslid voor Groen Sara Matthieu presenteert de vertoning van 'Ademloos', een documentaire over de koelbloedige asbestindustrie die nog steeds de levens van werknemers en consumenten wereldwijd in gevaar brengt.

Kapelle-op-den-Bos is het geboortedorp van filmmaker Daniel Lambo. Lambo's vader was arbeider en vakbondsman in de lokale Eternit-fabriek. Het bedrijf was ooit één van de grootste asbest producerende multinationals ter wereld. Vandaag kennen we de gevolgen van asbest. En hoewel het voor velen een probleem uit het verleden is, blijkt de asbestproblematiek brandend actueel. Zijn zoektocht brengt hem naar de grootste asbestafvalstortplaats in India. Een aangrijpend verhaal over de strijd van individuen tegen een bloeiende asbestindustrie.

Voorafgaand aan de documentaire geeft Europees Parlementslid Nikolaj Villumsen een korte introductie over hoe het Parlement burgers en werknemers in de Europese Unie wil beschermen tegen asbest.  

Na de vertoning is er een nagesprek waarna je wordt uitgenodigd voor een borrel en een babbel. Sprekers zijn EP-lid Sara Matthieu (Groenen/EFA), EP-lid Nikolaj Villumsen (The Left) en Eric Jonckheere (ABEVA – vereniging van asbestslachtoffers). 

Het nagesprek duurt maximaal 1 uur.

EN - Member of the European Parliament Sara Matthieu presents the screening of 'Breathless', a documentary that unveils a cold-blooded asbestos industry still endangering the lives of workers and consumers around the world.

Following the deaths of his father and many others from his village, filmmaker Daniel Lambo sets off on a passionate quest to find the truth about the deadly asbestos industry. His search takes him to the largest asbestos waste dump in India. A gripping story on the fight of individuals against a booming asbestos industry.

Prior to the documentary MEP Nikolaj Villumsen will introduce how the European Parliament wants to protect citizens and workers in the European Union against asbestos.

After the screening, there is an aftertalk on the topic after which you are invited for drinks and a chat. Speakers are MEP Sara Matthieu (Greens/EFA), MEP Nikolaj Villumsen (The Left) and Eric Jonckheere (ABEVA - asbestos victims' group).

The aftertalk will take maximum 1 hour.
