Lou Reed and his fans waited 33 years for the concert presented in this film. In 1973, the artist recorded "Berlin", an ambitious album that offered a surprising contrast to his album "Transformer". A concept album about jealousy, anger and loss, featuring the same characters from beginning to end. But at the time, the virulent criticism that greeted its release shattered all hopes of Reed and his producer, Bob Ezrin, to produce it one day in concert.
It will be done, 33 years later. Julian Schnabel directed the concerts, which he filmed for five nights at St. Anna's Warehouse in New York. His daughter Lola shot the small impressionistic films projected on stage to support the narrative dimension of the music. The brilliant band is accompanied by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus. A lot of changes have been made since 1973, but the songs gain in bottle.
