Julien Dandieu, a surgeon at the hospital, feels threatened by the militia who accuse him of treating resistance fighters. In order to keep them safe, he sends his wife and daughter to take refuge in the family castle located near a country village. But the routed German army and some soldiers with nothing left to lose, indulge in the worst abuses. One day, Julien arrives at the castle to discover that his wife and daughter have been tortured, raped and killed by a group of soldiers...
