1986. Maria, a Guatemalan revolutionary activist, is exiled in Mexico City where she continues her political action. When her 11-year-old son comes to live with her, she has to make a difficult choice between her role as a mother and her role as an activist against the dictatorship.A Guatemalan activist battles a corrupt dictatorship in 1976 and flees to Mexico, leaving her son. Ten years later he joins her, forcing a choice between motherhood and her cause.
