Because of an epidemic of dog flu, the mayor of Megasaki orders all the town's dogs to be quarantined and sent to an island that becomes the Isle of Dogs. Young Atari, aged 12, steals a plane and travels to the island to look for his faithful companion, Spots. Helped by a gang of five intrepid and endearing dogs, he discovers a conspiracy that threatens the city.
