DEJA S'ENVOLE LA FLEUR MAIGRE

An Italian family in search of a better life joins their father, a miner in the Borinage region of Belgium. This arrival is coupled with the imminent departure of Domenico, another Italian miner, who after 17 years in the mine is thinking only of returning to his village, as work is becoming increasingly scarce. Meyer poetically films the melancholy and misery, but also the joys of the miners' families: the children's first day at school, festive Sundays, games on the slag heaps... with great mastery of framing.
