1755, Denmark. Captain Ludvig Kahlen has set himself the goal of making the untamed Danish moors habitable in order to build a colony in the name of King Frederick V. In return, he expects a royal title with accompanying honor and wealth. Soon, however, Kahlen has an enemy with it. In fact, according to the ruthless landowner Frederick de Schinkel, the piece of land is already in his possession. When De Schinkel discovers that two of his workers have escaped to join Kahlen, he swears revenge. Kahlen is not intimidated and enters the fray, risking both his own life and that of his nascent community.
