SUN SCREENS - RIZE, David LaChapelle

Go back

From July 26 to August 18, Plaisirs d'été de la Ville de Bruxelles (Summer Pleasures of the City of Brussels) unfolds on the theme of dance: initiations, shows and battles for all styles and genres will be presented in 4 downtown districts (Bourse, Dansaert, Mont-des-Arts, Marolles).

With 3 films, the Palace will show that dance and cinema enjoy a close, diversified and innovative relationship: whether in documentary form with hip-hop (David LaChapelle's Rize) and contemporary dance (Wim Wenders' Pina), or in fictional form with disco (John Badham's Saturday Night Fever).

Synopsis : Rize reveals an urban phenomenon that is exploding in Los Angeles and spreading to the East Coast. Photographer David Lachapelle, who has been in contact with this phenomenon for a long time, has succeeded in capturing the birth of a revolutionary form of artistic expression born of the mal de vivre of those excluded from the American dream: krumping.

An event in collaboration with Plaisirs d'été, Galerie Maruani Mercier and Krump Belgium.
