PARASITE

Bong Joon-Ho

KR, 132’, 2019, VO KR ST FR/NL

CAST : Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong

"An eminently jubilant entertainment, Parasite is also more than that, spilling over from this cut-throat slice of Korean society into a fertile reflection on the galloping inflation of social inequalities and the violence of class relations. It's a brilliant film that tackles a burning issue, and it won a well-deserved Palme d'Or. Go and see it!" - Focus Vif

Synopsis: A family tragicomedy depicting the inevitable collision that ensues when Ki-woo, the eldest son in a family of four unemployed adults, is introduced to the wealthy Park family for a well-paid tutoring job.

With a clear reference to Akira Kurosawa's High and Low - both in theme and direction - Bong Joon-Ho originally imagined his film in black and white. Only after winning the Golden Palm and receiving four Oscars could the director realise this version. A completely different film.
