PL,157', 1988', VO PL ST FR/EN

Synopsis:

A team of cosmonauts lands on the far side of the moon to found a new civilization. But as the Elders die, society degenerates. The colonists, whose numbers are growing rapidly, gradually transform into a tribe torn apart by internal strife.

With On the Silver Globe, Andrzej Żuławski adapts the science fiction masterpiece The Lunar Trilogy by Jerzy Żuławski.  Considered the “Polish Jules Verne,” he was Andrzej Żuławski’s great-uncle.

Due to censorship, Żuławski was forced to halt filming two to three weeks before completion in 1977.

It was not until eight years later that Żuławski finished his film. It was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 1988, as the opening screening of the Un Certain Regard section.
