THE GREAT GATSBY
Baz Luhrmann
US/AU, 143', 2013, VO EN ST FR
Synopsis : Spring 1922. It is a time of loosening morals, the rise of jazz, and the enrichment of alcohol smugglers... Aspiring writer Nick Carraway leaves the Midwest to settle in New York. Wanting his share of the American dream, he now lives surrounded by a mysterious millionaire, Jay Gatsby, who distracts himself with high society parties, and his cousin Daisy and her unfaithful husband, Tom Buchanan, who comes from noble blood. This is how Nick finds himself at the heart of the fascinating world of billionaires, their illusions, their loves, and their lies. A privileged witness of his time, he begins to write a story that combines impossible loves, dreams of perfection, and devastating tragedies, and along the way, holds up a mirror that reflects our modern era and its struggles.
