Fanny, a 17-year-old schoolgirl from France, goes on an exchange to Germany. In Leipzig, she meets her pen pal Lena, who is the same age as her and already fully engaged in political activism. To impress Lena, the shy Fanny invents a different life for herself, but soon becomes entangled in her web of lies.
