CLUB 35 - THE DIRTY DOZEN (LES DOUZE SALOPARDS) - 35mm
CLUB 35
In September, our film clubs start up again!
One Thursday a month, Palace offers a “cinema classic” to see or re-see on the big screen.
“The Dirty Dozen”, directed by Robert Aldrich in 1967, is the filmmaker's second major war film. True to his unique vision of mise en scène, Aldrich chose to focus not on the great battles, but on the behavior of men in wartime. The use of the cinemascope format, with its wide screen, disorients and distracts viewers, forcing them to analyze the scenic space and its contents. On the other hand, a narrower image encourages the viewer to focus on the characters and the tensions between them. For the opening of the 2024/25 season, Club 35 offers a rare screening of the complete version of Robert Aldrich's work, in 35mm, in its original aspect ratio and with the Metrocolor color system, on an authentic Technicolor print.
Jean-Pierre Verscheure, curator and specialist in the history of cinema techniques, will present the print.
