BE CURIOUS - MORT A VIGNOLE & SOUVENIRS D'UN AMI

Go back

To mark our exhibition ORIGINS OF CINEMA: Magic Lanterns, Cinematograph, and Pioneer Projectors, Palace is offering a special program!

One Thursday a month, the Palace invites you to discover Belgian creative cinema. Unreleased titles or heritage films.

MORT A VIGNOLE (BE, 1998, 26', VO FR)
While shooting a family film in Venice, a filmmaker questions the way family images intervene in stories of love and death.
" What could be more poignant than the emotion that grips us when we see shaky images bearing the traces of those who are no longer with us? The challenge of MORT A VIGNOLE is to go beyond the specific case of one family—no more or less interesting than any other—to a meditation on emotional memory, community, and connection." Th. Horguelin, Le Moniteur du film, n° 163

Digitized by SONUMA with the support of the EU.

SOUVENIRS D'UN AMI (BE, 2026, 24', VO FR)
A narrator tells the story of an unusual childhood friend.
“Produced with the help of AI, this short film tells the story of an unusual childhood friend through a narrator. Presented as a declaration addressed to this departed friend, the work subtly plays on the boundary between reality and fiction.” FIFA - Festival International du Film d'Art

The screening of the two short films will be followed by a discussion with the director and Louis de Diesbach (philosopher) on the links between creativity and artificial intelligence.
