It’s easy to get to the dusty little Mexican town of Las Piedras. Not so easy to leave. Many have come from far and wide looking for work, only to succumb to boredom and misery, devoured by the heat, insects and local bootleg. The American oil company that presides over the impoverished region doesn’t have jobs for everyone. But an opportunity arises when a fire breaks out in a company oil well 300 miles away.
